The Chaos Walking trilogy is a series that I've always wanted to read since a very long time ago because of all the hype that's surrounding it. I finally read all 3 books last year, in 2020, but I ended up not loving it as much as other people did. Last year I was extremely busy with personal life so I didn't write a review for them, instead I only write short reviews here, expressing what I think about them. I was quite surprised when I stumbled upon a movie trailer for Chaos Walking and decided that I'm going to watch it when it comes out. I resolved to write a movie adaptation review to replace the book reviews that I never write. Unfortunately, the movie was a complete chaos and I don't think it represents the book very well. I'm going to explain why in this review, and hopefully I won't be spoiling too much for those of you who haven't read the book or watched the movie 😉.

Movie Adaptation Review: The Hate U Give

The Hate U Give is one of my favorite reads from 2017, and I was quite amazed because in such a short period of time, the book got its own movie adaptation. At first I was quite hesitant to watch the movie because I'm not sure if it will do the book justice. But recently I decided to watch it together with my boyfriend, and I'm glad I did! Of course, the book is still 10 times better, but I think the movie adaptation successfully delivered the message of the story really well. Even though I already knew what's going to happen throughout the movie, it had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. In this review, I'm going to talk about some of my favorite things about this movie adaptation. I'll try my best not to spoil too much for those who haven't read the book or watch the movie yet 😊.

Movie Adaptation Review: Crazy Rich Asians

I know it's quite late to be posting this, but I'm going to write it nevertheless 😂. I actually watched Crazy Rich Asians twice; the first time with my boyfriend and the second time with my parents. To be honest, I originally planned on reading the book first before going to watch the movie. But since the book is quite lengthy, I decided to just directly watch the movie 😂. I'd have to say, the movie is very pleasant and easy to watch—because you don't have to think too much about it. For the most part, the story line is pretty cliché and predictable; but it's still enjoyable for me personally. In this review I'm going to review some of my favorite parts from the movie. Hopefully I won't spoil too much for those who haven't seen it yet 😉.

Movie Adaptation Review: Ready Player One

Ready Player One is one of my most anticipated movie adaptation this year, and I finally get to watch it! I read it back in 2017, and unfortunately, I wasn't able to write a full review for it (I did write a short review though). To be honest, my memory about the book is quite vague already; so I think it's a good thing because I will be able to judge the movie on its own. Going out of the theater, I do have to say that I had fun watching it. There are a lot of differences between the book and the movie which can be a good thing or a bad thing. I'll discuss some of them below and try my best not to spoil too much for those who haven't watched it yet 😊😊.

The other day my boyfriend took me to watch this movie at the theater. We were quite intrigued by this movie because the ratings are pretty decent—82% on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.6 on IMDB. After doing some research, I found out that this movie is based on an autobiography written by Molly Bloom herself about her life that changed drastically from a pro skier to someone who hosts one of the most exclusive underground poker in the world. I didn't expect to enjoy this movie as much as I did (because I rarely watch any biography movies), but I think this movie is really good! So here's my non-spoiling review for the movie adaptation of Molly's Game.

In the past few years, there are so many movies that are adapted from books. I used to write a bunch of movie adaptation reviews on this blog, but I didn't do it for the past 2 years or so—even though I watched quite a lot of book-to-movie adaptations. This year, I'm trying to get back on track and write reviews for the movie adaptations that I watched. This is quite a long overdue post, but I still feel the need to share my excitement about this movie adaptation!! If you didn't know already, Wonder by R.J. Palacio is one of my favorite books ever. It's the one book that I always mention whenever someone asked me for a book recommendation; because I truly feel like everyone should read this book. So I'm super excited when I saw the movie trailer on my Youtube subscription list. And it's definitely not disappointing! If you haven't seen the trailer yet, go watch it below! ;)

It's been a long time since I wrote something related to movie adaptation. And recently I saw a movie trailer that got me really excited because it's adapted from one of my favorite book: Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver! I read this book back in 2011; which is five years ago, and I barely remember the details of the book. But I know for sure that I really enjoyed my time reading it back then. I watched this movie half-way through during a flight and decided to finish watching it recently at home. I read the book back in 2012, and even though it's not exactly my favorite book, I know that it's an extremely popular classic book among readers. At the time, I didn't fully understood the whole meaning of the story; so I was hoping the movie adaptation would help me understand it better. And I was especially excited when I saw the incredibly beautiful trailer for this movie. So here's my non-spoiling review for the movie adaptation of The Little Prince.

This movie has been out for quite some time now, but I've hold myself back from watching it until recently. Maybe it's because my feelings about the book is just so-so, that's why I wasn't particularly very excited to watch this movie adaptation. And after I finished watching this movie, my overall feeling was more or less the same with the book. Though I had to say that I enjoyed the book slightly better than the movie adaptation. The final conclusion of the Hunger Games franchise is finally here, and I'm so happy because I was able to drag someone to watch this with me at the theater XD. Even though there are mixed responses towards this movie, I'm thoroughly satisfied with how the whole story wraps up at the end. Despite the differences between the book and the movie, I absolutely love everything from beginning to end. It was so intense I kept fiddling with my wrists. Anyway, here's my review for the movie adaptation of Mockingjay Part 2—hopefully I won't spoil too much :)

Why have I not heard about this before?! OMG I was utterly shocked when I saw a video titled 'A Monster Calls Official Teaser Trailer' on my Youtube subscription list. I kept thinking why have I never heard about this news before? I mean, A Monster Calls is one of my favorite reads this year and I should know about this sooner! I am so excited right now even though the movie is set to premiere next year; so I have a lot of waiting to do. Nevertheless, I'm still super excited with this teaser trailer! I didn't get the chance to watch this movie in the theater, but I finally watched it. And my initial reaction after I finished it was, "What did I just watch?". Firstly, because the movie is literally nothing like what I remembered The Scorch Trials to be. There's so much differences between the book and the movie that I don't even know where to start talking about it. I know that they also changed a lot of things in the first movie, but the second one seems to create a story on its own now; with just the basic idea and characters from the book. Had to say that I'm pretty disappointed in this movie, because The Scorch Trials is my favorite book out of the trilogy. And I'm sad to say that the book is SO SO much better than the movie. Let me state this right from the beginning that I'm writing this movie adaptation review from the perspective of a person who have read the book beforehand. And I'd have to say I was slightly disappointed by the movie—which I already expect, considering how amazing the book was for me and I know how difficult it will be to translate into a 2-hour movie. But that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it, because I did. It's still action-packed and has its own funny moments. All I'm saying is, it's not the best movie adaptation out there because it doesn't really do justice to the book (in my opinion). Anyway, here's my non-spoiling review for the movie adaptation of The Martian.

Whenever a movie adaptation trailer comes out, I feel the sudden urge to read the book—because I always prefer to read the book first before watching the movie. I don't really know much about The 5th Wave aside from the fact that it's a science-fiction trilogy (?). I heard some amazing things about the first book, but there are quite a lot of mixed reviews for the sequel—so I was a bit hesitant to jump into this series. But now that the movie adaptation is nearing its release, I feel like I should risk it and start reading the first book. If you haven't seen the trailer, go watch it below ;)

I am just so utterly happy when I saw this trailer on my Youtube subscription feed. And watching this trailer made me desperately want to read I Am Malala soon. For those of you who're not familiar with Malala Yousafzai, she's a girl who was shot on the head by Taliban when she returned from school. She miraculously survived and is now leading campaigns to promote girls' education globally. At the age of 17 years old, Malala received the Nobel Peace Prize for her struggle against the right of all children to education. And she has become the youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate. Isn't she great? I have so much respect for her and will most definitely watch this documentary if I get the chance :)) If you haven't seen the trailer yet, check it out below :)))

This is actually not a new movie—it was released back in 2014, but I never got the chance to see it even though I really wanted to because I've read the book back in 2011. Then I recently saw this movie available on my flight from Auckland to Singapore, so I decided to watch it. It was a very poignant and beautiful movie. It's heartbreaking, heart-wrenching, and just gave me all the feels. I don't remember much about the details of the book aside from the fact that it's about a woman with Alzheimer's disease. And watching this movie kind of reminded me why I rated the book 5 stars back then. Okay, let's jump right in to my non-spoiling review for the movie adaptation of Still Alice.

We're getting so much closer to the release date for the fourth and final Hunger Games movie, which is Mockingjay: Part 2! The official trailer was released several days ago and it looks epic. This second part of the Mockingjay movie will be the grand finale in which war will be happening. So there will surely be a lot of action scenes which I'm pretty sure will get me excited when I watch it. If you haven't seen the official trailer, go watch it below ;)

OH GOSH, I still can't get over at how attractive Scott Eastwood is in this movie! ♥♥♥ I was never into cowboys before (and I also mentioned in my book review that I couldn't love Luke Collins in the book enough because he's a cowboy), but I won't say no to a cowboy that looks like him. Anyways, back to the movie adaptation! For once, I will say that I actually liked the movie adaptation a little bit more than the book. No, not only because of Scott Eastwood, but I feel like the story flowed a bit better in the movie. It's a classic romance story that you'll always get whenever you watch a Nicholas Sparks' movie adaptation. Okay, so here's my non-spoiling review for the movie adaptation of The Longest Ride :))

I almost forgot about this Throwback feature on my blog, and the last time I did it was last year. So this time I'm trying to revive this dying feature by talking about some of my Favorite Book to Movie Adaptations. While I was doing a research to make this post, there are actually tons of movies that are adapted from books—which I never knew about before. In this post, I will list some of my favorite movie adaptations; some might be quite old and some are quite recent. I might actually have many more movie adaptations that I love, but so far these are the ones at the top of my head right now. I listed the movies in no particular order, but I kind of separate them into genres.
