January 2018 Book Haul

.

It's always been two years since I last made a monthly book haul post—and here I am bringing it back from the dead! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚  This year, I resolve to be more mindful of the things that I buy, including books. Besides my goal to save more money in 2018, I also strive to live a minimalist lifestyle—which I will take time to elaborate in another post. Compared to my usual book haul which consists of around 10 book in average, this month I only got myself 5 books. I did order other books this month but they haven't come in the mail yet. So here are the books that I bought for myself in January ๐Ÿ’˜๐Ÿ’˜

My first purchase is a continuation of one of my favorite manga series, Miiko! Since it only comes out once every year, I'm always highly anticipating its' release. I already finished reading this one and it's so adorable! There are so many sweet moments between Miiko and Tappei that I've always longed for ๐Ÿ’˜ For those of you who are also fans of this manga, you'll know the frustration of waiting for Tappei to state his feelings ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.
Desiring God: Meditations of a Christian Hedonist by John Piper
Since last year, I've enjoyed listening to John Piper and reading his articles. And I really admire him because most of his books are all available for download on the website; except this one and several others. Considering that this book is John Piper's most prominent work, I really want to have it and read it. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
We're All Wonders by R.J. Palacio
I ordered this book quite impulsively after I watched the movie adaptation for Wonder. Unfortunately, I was disappointed when the book mail came and I found out that it's such a thin book ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ. I guess it's my own fault because I didn't check the book details before finalizing the order.
Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori
I read so many good reviews about this book and I decided to get one myself. It's a historical fiction that sets in Indonesia during the riots back in 1998. I literally have no expectation because this is my first time reading Leila S. Chudori's book, but I'm pretty optimist because a lot of people really enjoyed her writing. I'm currently reading at the moment; so look forward to my review on this book soon ๐Ÿ˜‰.
Pulang by Leila S. Chudori
After buying Laut Bercerita, I read that some people think her previous work (Pulang) is better. Thus I went on a hunt at the bookstore for a copy; however, turns out there's no stock left. Few days later, I spotted this book at the bookstore and I immediately grabbed one. I fell in love with that book cover at first sight! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’˜ I'm so glad I got this cover redesign edition instead of the older one.

That's it for this month's haul! Hopefully I can keep up with this series again this year and document all my book shoppings ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„ I'll try my best to maintain the number of books that I accumulate as minimum as possible ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜† Bye~! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘‹
