So this has been a dream post of mine for a very long time—which is to find a book cafe in town, where you can read and enjoy food at the same time. This place is considered new, and it's located in the eastern area of Surabaya (totally opposite from where I live). But since my friend lived in that area, we decided to visit and tried it out :)) It's called Libreria Eatery, a very cute name that represents the concept really well. The cafe is located right next to a bookstore called Uranus, that you can also visit from inside the cafe. I went there at around noon, and it wasn't that crowded yet so it's easy to find a parking spot. And now let's take a look inside ;))

Upon entering the cafe, the first thing we see is the counter—where we have to order the food first before taking a seat. I really love the vintage concept of the counter, and especially love the chalkboard where they put up their favorite menu. There are also varieties of pudding and cake as shown on the picture above, but I didn't tried those. The first floor has a pretty narrow space, but thankfully it wasn't that crowded at the time.

Here's the menu! :D Me and my friend ordered two dishes to share, we got: Coney Dog and Cheesy Pizza. The price itself (as you can see in the picture above) is fairly common for cafe, ranging from 20K-40K for food and 10K-30K for beverages. For drinks my friend ordered Iced Tea and I ordered Iced Lychee Tea. And now let's take a look at the first floor view:

The most popular part of this cafe is the wall with the quote: "Books are drugs for the imagination" which I really love. Besides that wall, there's a wooden bookshelves filled with random books and vintage knick-knacks for decoration. On the right side there's also a special cactus booth (I loveee cactus), and a basket filled with condiments that you can take yourself. Behind the bookshelf there's a restroom, which is very nicely decorated and very clean. And because we couldn't find a seat in the first floor, we decided to go upstairs:

The second floor is a bit more spacious, and as I'm walking up the staircase there's a really beautiful mural painting of "Food Book & Music". There are also sofa seating in the second floor, along with a balcony for smoking area. The upstairs area is actually more crowded; there's a group of girls hanging out and chatting, then there's a girl who's working on her laptop whilst reading books (?), and a group of people sitting at the balcony area. We chose the seat near the stairs, and behind me there's another cactus booth.

While at the corner of the second floor, there's another bookshelf filled with various books (which you can read as you're waiting for food to come). There are quite a huge range of books to choose from. My friend grabbed a Cinderella story book, which is really fancy with nice illustrations in it. There are also some of my favorite books like 5 cm by Donny Dhirgantoro, and Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom (translated version).

The drinks came in a short time, and also the Coney Dog (hot dog with fries on the side), but the pizza took a really long time. I think it's more than 30 minutes. The portion itself is quite big, so we couldn't finish everything. But overall the food was quite good, even though I've had better hot dogs/pizza in other restaurants.

The best part about Libreria Eatery is the cozy and enjoyable atmosphere. However, since the place is quite crowded with people, it might not be the best place to read/work—if you're the type who doesn't like to be disturbed with noise. But if the sound of people chatting added with music doesn't bother you, I'm pretty sure you'll get comfortable here. The service is great, however if you're sitting on the second floor, you'll have to go back down to order anything—because there's no waiter/waitress on the upper level. I wish there's a similar place like this near my house, so that I can go and read there if I want a change of scenery. Or I might want to make a place like this in the future. ㅋㅋㅋ

I hope you enjoyed this post that I've never done before :) Are there book cafes in the place you live? I really hope there will be more book cafes here in Surabaya ;)))

Bye!
