Top 5 Wednesday: Best Books You've Read So Far in 2018

.

We've gone through the first half of 2018, so it's time to take a look back at the books I've read these past 6 months. So far I've read 24 books and there are several that have become my favorites. There's also a Top Ten Tuesday tag for this topic, but I don't think I have that many books to list, so I decided to stick with Top 5 Wednesday instead. This was supposed to be the topic for the first week of July, but what can I do, I don't really have that much time to write these days ๐Ÿ˜Œ. Without further ado, here are some of my favorite books that I've read so far in 2018 (in no particular order) ๐Ÿ˜Š.

Rising Strong by Brenรฉ Brown
The first one is a book that has been sitting on my bedside table for so long, and I finally decided to pick it up this year. I was totally blown away by Brenรฉ Brown's writing and it opened my mind about a lot of things. Mostly it's about being vulnerable and how to get back up after we fall. This book really inspired me in so many ways. Unfortunately, I haven't got the chance to write a review for it. Maybe one of these days I might reread it a little bit so I can give my full review on this amazing book ๐Ÿ˜Š.
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng | Book Review
I've always wanted to read Celeste Ng's writing since several years ago but never got around to it. That's why when this book was published, I decided I'm going to read it right away. No surprise, I absolutely fell in love with Celeste Ng's writing. She really has a way of making the reader get so emotionally involved in the story—at least that's what happened to me ๐Ÿ˜‚. All the characters are so relatable and I was able to sympathize with each one of them even when they are on opposing sides. If you want to read more about my opinion on this book, you can click on the book review link above ☝️.

What I Know For Sure by Oprah Winfrey | Book Review
I saw this book at the bookstore and fell in love with how beautiful it is, but in the end I decided to read it in ebook format because the hardcover edition is really expensive ๐Ÿ˜‚ Before reading this book, I've only known Oprah Winfrey as a TV personality who likes to give free gifts to her audience. I've come to know her better through this book. Her principles and values that she lives by in this book are admirable. I've also written a book review for this one so go check it out if you want to know more.
In His Image by Jen Wilkin | Book Review
I got this ebook copy in exchange for an honest review from Crossway, and I definitely did not regret choosing this book. To be honest, that beautiful cover is what attracted me in the first place ๐Ÿ˜‚, but turns out the book is amazing as well. I love Jen Wilkin's writing style and how she elaborates God's characters and ways to reflect them in our lives. This book made me want to read her previous book, None Like Him, which I've ordered from an online bookstore ๐Ÿ˜†.
Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng
Last book on this list is a book that I've recently finished, that's why I haven't posted the review yet. Since reading Little Fires Everywhere, I feel the need to read more Celeste Ng's writing, so I picked this book up. This book was the one that made me recognize Celeste Ng in the first place but I never got around to it when it was published. Everything I Never Told You has a similar vibe to her newer book; it involves family drama, a lot of emotions, and it was able to make me sympathize with all the characters in it. From now on, Celeste Ng is surely one of my auto-buy authors. Please write more books in the future ๐Ÿ˜†.

Surprisingly, all of the books I mentioned above are written by authors whom I've never read before. And also surprisingly, the non-fiction books are dominating the list—which is quite unusual. But I do have to admit that recently I've been enjoying non-fiction books a lot more than before. I guess I discovered a lot of new interesting ones to read ๐Ÿ˜Š What are some of the best books you've read so far in 2018? Feel free to share it in the comments section below!
