April is my birthday month, so I did treat myself with buying more books than usual 😊😊. I think this month's haul consist of an equal amount of English and Indonesian books. Aside from the paperbacks, I also acquired several ebooks that I'm really excited to read soon. In April, I bought 3 English books, 1 Bible study book, 3 Indonesian books and 6 ebooks. All these books really intrigued me but I'm not sure if I'll have enough time to read all of them 🙁. I wish I can stay in bed and read all day 😂. Anyways, without further ado, here are the books that I got last month.
Devotions for a Deeper Life: A Daily Devotional by Oswald Chambers
This is a daily devotional excerpted from various from Oswald Chambers' essays that he wrote in the early twentieth century. I've been interested to read Oswald Chambers' works because I heard so much about him. And a friend of mind also recommended me to read more about him after I read Spurgeon on the Christian Life. I do have to wait until next year though to start reading this, because I'm currently reading another Bible plan which is Bible in One Year 2018 😄.
Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng
I absolutely fell in love with Celeste Ng's writing after I read Little Fires Everywhere. That's why I decided to buy this book because I know I'm going to love it. Some of my fellow readers have also showed their love for this book as well, which makes me even more excited to start reading it! 😆
Hyouka by Yonezawa Honobu
It's been quite a long time since I read books from Penerbit Haru and I kind of miss it. So I suddenly went to the bookstore and decided to pick up some books that caught my attention. This first one is a Japanese-translated book and it's actually a series—the second book will be released soon—and it has a pretty decent ratings on Goodreads. I'll start reading when the sequel comes out! 😊😊
I Want to Eat Your Pancreas by Sumino Yoru
I was quite hesitant to pick this book up because at first the title sounds weird to me. But this one also has a pretty good review and it's been adapted into a movie as well in Japan, so I decided to buy this book along with the previous one.
If Only by Innayah Putri
As I'm writing this post, I'm also currently reading this book—and to be honest I'm starting to wonder if I made the right decision to buy it in the first place 😂. I was initially interested because of the beautiful cover 😂, and also because I wanted to try reading something that comes from Wattpad. I have never read anything from Wattpad before even though I know a lot of people do and there are a lot of good stories there. So far I'm about 100 pages in, and I think I'm a bit too old for this kind of story. Anyways, we'll see how I think about it in my book review later.
Psalms for Prayer Study Book | She Reads Truth
Just like last month's book haul, this month I also got myself another She Reads Truth study book, and this one focuses on the book of Psalms. Psalms is very popular with its songs and prayers, so I decided to also get the prayer book which includes prayers for various situations based on the Psalms.
E-BOOK HAUL |
Adamant: Finding Truth in a Universe of Opinions by Lisa Bevere
The first one from the ebook pile is a book I've been anticipating, which is by Lisa Bevere (John Bevere's wife)! I first discovered this book through Instagram stories and the content really intrigued me. It's a book that will teach us to be unmovable, determined, and steadfast in the midst of worldly opinions.
Women of the Word: How to Study the Bible with Both Our Hearts and Our Minds by Jen Wilkin
I came across this book when I was choosing books for review from Crossway Publishing. This one has really good reviews and ratings on Goodreads so I really want to try reading it. Especially because Bible study is something I'm always interested in 😊.
In His Image: 10 Ways God Calls Us to Reflect His Character by Jen Wilkin
This e-book is sponsored by Crossway Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This book is set to be released at the end of May, so I hope I'll be able to finish reading and write a review for it before that. That cover is also beautiful and I absolutely love the color!
Crazy Rich Asians (Crazy Rich Asians, #1) by Kevin Kwan
China Rich Girlfriend (Crazy Rich Asians, #2) by Kevin Kwan
Rich People Problems (Crazy Rich Asians, #3) by Kevin Kwan
The last one is a series that has captured my attention because it's going to be adapted into a movie soon! Although the ratings on Goodreads are so-so, I heard this series is a lot of fun to read. I seriously don't know what to expect because I've never read anything by Kevin Kwan before, but I think I'll try reading it before I go see the movie. 😊
Those are all the books that I got in April, it's a little bit more than my usually small haul. This month I'll have to go back to holding myself back from purchasing too many unnecessary books (especially just because the book has a pretty cover) 😂. If you have any book recommendations for me, feel free to share it in the comments below! I'll be more than happy to check it out. 😊😊
I looove Crazy Rich Asians, the series are just funny but totally relatable! Do you buy She Reads the Truth books online? Because I don't think I ever see it in Periplus ahaha.
