Review for To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Things feel like they'll be forever, but they aren't. Love can go away, or people can, without even meaning to. Nothing is guaranteed."
Lara Jean wasn't expecting her feelings for Peter Kavinsky to get real, but it did. After discvoering each others' feelings, they decided to be together for real this time around. Everything seems perfect in Lara Jean's life. She mended her relationship with her sister, Margo and she's enjoying the time she spent with Peter. But that didn't last long, because suddenly a video of Lara Jean and Peter making out in the hot tub was made public. Everyone who saw the video thought they both had sex in the tub, and that certainly gave Lara Jean a hard time. Lara Jean suspected that it was Genevieve—Peter's ex-girlfriend and her ex-bestfriend—who uploaded the video. But somehow Peter doesn't seem to believe that.

"You can't protect yourself against heartbreak, Lara Jean."
And amidst all that problem, Lara Jean suddenly received a letter from John Ambrose McClaren—one of the five boys who received Lara Jean's secret love letter. It was a coincidence and John finally got to read Lara Jean's letter to him from eighth grade, and they keep exchanging letters after that. Amidst all her distress over Peter's ongoing friendship with Genevieve, Lara Jean finding herself feeling comfortable spending time with John; and for once she felt like being someone's number one girl. What will happen to her relationship with Peter? Is Peter really not over Genevieve yet—or is it all in Lara Jean's head?
"So much of love is chance. There's something scary and wonderful about that. If Kitty had never sent those letters, if I hadn't gone to the hot tub that night, it might've been him and Gen. But she did send those letters, and I did go out there. It could have happened lots of ways. But this is the way it happened. This is the path we took. This is our story."

"In the whole history of my letters, of my liking boys, not once has a boy liked me back at the same time as I liked him. It was always me alone, longing after a boy, and that was fine, that was safe. But this is new. Or old. Old and new, because it's the first time I'm hearing it."
At first I was quite hesitant about picking the sequel of To All the Boys I've Loved Before, because like I said in my review for the first book, I'm completely okay with that open ending at the end. But since I heard a lot of good things about the second book, I finally decided to read this book on a whim. To be completely honest, my feeling about this book and the first one is almost the same—I wasn't totally in love with the plot but it's so easy to read especially with Jenny Han's exceptional writing. I keep getting annoyed at how the story progressed but I don't know why I can't stop reading and I kept turning the pages over. It seems like Jenny Han's writing has become some kind of guilty pleasure for me. The main conflict in this book still revolves around Peter and Genevieve's ambiguous relationship and also the appearance of John Ambrose McClaren in Lara Jean's life. And there are also some minor conflicts about Margot and Lara Jean's father. As for the ending, I can't say that I'm fully satisfied with how things happened. I'm not complaining about the result at the end—in fact it was something I hoped would happen eventually, but I'm not perfectly satisfied with the progress. Of course I'm not going to spoil anything here, but that's just my personal opinion about it. There are tons of other people who love this book and thought that it's perfection; so I guess it's up to each readers' preferences :))
"People come in and out of your life. For a time they are your world; they are everything. And then one day they’re not."
"People say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but I think they're wrong: Proximity makes the heart grow fonder."
My favorite character is still undoubtedly Peter Kavinsky despite the appearance of a new and sweet boy in the story. I know that Peter's not supposed to still care so much about Genevieve since they've broken up, but he's just being the good friend that he is. And through what he said to Lara Jean and his behavior around her, I can see how Peter genuinely likes her. I think it's just Lara Jean who's being insecure and stuff. The appearance of John Ambrose McClaren unfortunately wasn't able to steer my heart away from Peter. Obviously, he's not less good-looking than Peter, he's sweet and romanticbut for me he's not as charming as Peter. Although I was swooning over John's way of thinking, romantic acts and words, I wasn't rooting for him to be with Lara Jean. But I also think that maybe it's all because John Ambrose McClaren came a little bit later in the story; when my heart is already captivated by Peter ♥

If any of you liked Josh from the first book, unfortunately he doesn't make much appearance in this sequel. And aside from the boys, my favorite character is still Kitty—the youngest of the Song sisters. Her dialogues are on point (most of the time) and she's so adorable. Kitty is also going through a phase of growing up and is dealing with her own problems. I also find Dad's character pretty adorable, although I'm quite sad we don't get to see the result of his so-called-date.

Like I said earlier, reading this book feels like a guilty pleasure for me—the plot wasn't all that exciting but I can't stop reading. Just like the first book, this sequel is a light read and very easy to get through. Jenny Han's writing is probably the main reason why I enjoyed this book so much, and I'm definitely going to read more of her books in the future. In the end, if you loved the first book, you will definitely enjoy this sequel as well. It has the same cutesy-romance that you will surely find adorable :))
