Top 5 Wednesday: Top Quotes

.
image source: here. edited by me.
We're in the second week of April, and it's time for another Top 5 Wednesday! This week, the topic is to choose Top 5 Quotes. I have to admit it's a very tough topic for me, not because I don't have any to list, but because there's too many I want to put on this list - not just five. Some of you can probably tell from my book reviews that I absolutely love good quotes that delivers emotions and deep meaning. To limit my choices, I will choose quotes from the books I read in late 2013 - 2014. So here are my list of favorite quotes, in no particular order - because I love them all! ♥ (Oh, I made a list of Top Five Most Memorable Quotes for last year's Book Kaleidoscope; you can also check that out because I made different choices this time ;))

"Wouldn't you want to know?" Marina continues. "That in some little way, something random you did had such an impact on someone's life? What do they call that? The Butterfly Effect?"
This quote is said when Willem realized that his life changed just because a man told him there was an audition for Shakespeare's play. Then this girl, Marina, told Willem to express his gratitude towards the man, because wouldn't you want to know that a small action you might not even realize doing, could change someone's life? I was then reminded of this amazing video that showed The Butterfly Effect in a really sweet way :) And the kindness you do for others will always come back to you; although it might be in a different way, and you just don't know that it was a result of the actions you do :))

"There are so many ways to be brave in this world. Sometimes bravery involves laying down your life for something bigger than yourself, or for someone else. Sometimes it involves giving up everything you have ever known, or everyone you have ever loved, for the sake of something greater.
But sometimes it doesn't.
Sometimes it is nothing more than gritting your teeth through pain, and the work of every day, the slow walk toward a better life.
That is the sort of bravery I must have now.
"
Allegiant by Veronica Roth
THIS. I almost shed tears because of this quote; it's just so deep and emotional coming from a strong and brave guy like Four (or Tobias) ;___; But it is true, that overcoming your life obstacles is also a form of bravery. Because being brave is not only about sacrifice or taking a risk. And for the amount of feels this quote gave me, this quote deserves to be on the list.

"....thinking that I would give up all the sick days I had left for a few healthy ones. I tried to tell myself that it could be worse, that the world was not a wish-granting factory, that I was living with cancer not dying of it, that I mustn't let it kill me before it kills me,..."
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
This one is a pretty obvious choice, because how can I not include TFIOS in my Top Quotes list? I chose a quote by Augustus in my Book Kaleidoscope post, so this time I'm choosing one by Hazel Grace. Rather than about the romance, this quote talks more about her life where she has to live with cancer. She realized that the world is not a wish-granting factory, so not everything will go the way we wanted it to be. TFIOS is one of my most favorite books last year and the story still lingers in my mind.

'I'll get there, if I leave everything but my bones behind,' said Sam. 'And I'll carry Mr. Frodo up myself, if it breaks my back and heart. So stop arguing!'
The Return of the King (The Lord of the Rings, #3) by J.R.R. Tolkien
Another emotional quote coming from the last book of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. This quote is said by Samwise Gamgee, the most loyal person I've ever seen in the fictional world, I think. Such strong words being said by Sam, he is determined to throw the One Ring into Mount Doom even if he leave everything behind. He would carry Frodo on his back even though he's also suffering, just so the mission can be accomplished. If you read my reviews on The Lord of the Rings trilogy, you would know that I really respect Sam's character because of this trait.

"You might think a person who brings proof of heaven would be embraced. But even in the presence of a miracle, the human heart will say, Why not me?"
The First Phone Call from Heaven by Mitch Albom
The last quote is one that shows human nature: envy. In the book, not everyone received a phone call from their loved ones who has passed away. Even though it is a miracle for some people, those who does not receive the same will say 'why not me?'. Most of the times, we can't be happy for other people's miracle if we are also hoping for the same miracle. It's a simple quote, but it has a deep meaning to it; and that is the last quote for this list :))

That's it for this week's Top 5, see you next week with a different topic: Top 5 Siblings!
Phew, I think it's going to be a difficult one. Bye!
