Book Review: Mockingjay (Hunger Games, #3)

BOOK review

Started on: 21.November.2011
Finished on: 24.November.2011
sooo.. i just finished! YAY! :) i almost can't believe that i finished this in 4 days. in the midst of my final semester assignments, i consider this as a very quick read. i guess the story was just too intense, that's why i can't stop and kept reading for more. there are so many things happening in the story; a lot of deaths, unexpected twists, and secret revelations which causes me to be dazed right now. anyways, the story was absolutely INTENSE emotionally too; lots of anger, sadness, and a bit of happiness. the story has that kind of gloomy mood because of the war. but in the end everything ends well. the ending is SO epic!
without further delay, here's the book review for Mockingjay :)

-----
the story starts again, right after the area for the 3rd Quarter Quell was destroyed. Katniss woke up to realize she was being rescued from the arena by the rebels and they are going to District 13 - which actually exists. then she founds out District 12 was destroyed because of President Snow. thankfully, her mother, Prim, Gale and his family was safe in 13. but unfortunately, President Snow's has got Peeta as prisoner.
this is where the war between The Capitol and District 13 starts.

“We had to save you because you’re the mockingjay, Katniss,” says Plutarch. “While you live, the revolution lives.”  The bird, the pin, the song, the berries, the watch, the cracker, the dress that burst into flames.  I am the mockingjay.  The one that survived despite the Capitol’s plans.  The symbol of the rebellion.”

after being convinced by President Coin, the leader of District 13 and her crew, Katniss has become the Mockingjay; the symbol of rebellion against The Capitol. while Peeta, imprisoned by President Snow, was on the side of The Capitol by saying how the rebels are wrong and everything they are doing would be useless. Katniss and the others are almost sure that Peeta was being forced and tortured by Snow to tell those things. many fights and war happens. many people got involved in the war including Gale, Finnick from District 4 tribute, Beetee also a tribute, Haymitch, and many more. even though there are many loses and deaths, little by little the rebels gain more supporters and the districts starts cutting their supplies for The Capitol. in the midst of war, Katniss and people from District 13 plans a rescue for Peeta and the rest of the surviving victors who were imprisoned in The Capitol by Snow. they got back to 13 alright, but then;
Peeta tried to kill Katniss; the girl he's in love with since he was 5.

i really want to stop at just that before i spoil more surprising and exciting part of the story :)
at that point where Katniss feels all happy because Peeta got rescued, but Peeta's mind seems to be filled with the urge of killing her; i was devastated. i was feeling as heartbroken as i'm sure Katniss was. i won't tell why Peeta tried to kill her :X my lips are sealed :1
but i'm going to spoil one part to you, because i just LOVEEE this part ;)
i got the chills at this point. FINALLY Katniss! you realized how lucky you are to get a guy like Peeta ;)

What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that.
So after, when he whispers, "You love me. Real or not real?"
I tell him, "Real."
for those of you who haven't read The Hunger Games series yet, i RECOMMEND you to buy these 3 books right away! i'm sure you won't be disappointed, especially for those who enjoy intense action fantasy story, along with the sweet taste of romance ;)

have to choose between Gale or Peeta?

i'll DEFINITELY choose Peeta. anytime.
